We don’t just serve our community.

We’re a part of it.

At Augusta Health, we’re proud to be one of only three independent community-based health systems in Virginia. In our work, our planning, and our care, community means everything. We’re committed to our essential role in the health and well-being of our neighbors by providing free health screenings, community education and outreach, as well as scholarship opportunities.

Our family of nurses is the beating heart of the care we provide. Our nursing department fosters a supportive environment of shared governance that ensures every voice is heard. From the bedside nurse to our Chief Nursing Officer, we work together to combine contemporary methods with timeless values to deliver a special kind of care to our patients.

Our Mission

To care for our community with compassion, skill, and knowledge.

Our Vision

To ensure a legacy of advancing the art and science of nursing through evidence-based practice and collaborative care.

Our Philosophy

Nursing at Augusta Health is fluid, dynamic, and able to accept the changes the future of healthcare may bring. Nursing is charged with responsibility and challenge: the responsibility to grow and become more skilled in our roles, and the challenge to do so with grace, poise, and professionalism. Nursing at Augusta Health stems from our Nursing Practice Model built from the foundation of patient-centered care as well as the nursing values of compassion, teamwork, knowledge, and excellence. The incorporation of cultural and ethnic diversity along the illness-wellness continuum and provision of competent evidence-based care is the very core and essence of nursing at Augusta Health.

Patients exist as individuals, families, groups, and communities. Each person is unique and possesses inherent dignity, worth, and rights. Throughout their lifespan, people have potential for growth and development. Nursing supports the relationship between our patients and their environment and strives to optimize care to ensure our patients proceed to their next level in the best possible physical, emotional, and spiritual condition. It is our duty and our privilege at Augusta Health to provide safe passage.
